In director James Gunn's The Suicide Squad from 2021, Margot Robbie reprised her role as the crazy and chaotic 'Harley Quinn'. In the sequel to DC's 2016 Suicide Squad movie, the task force of killers, mercenaries and supervillains head to the South American island nation of Corto Maltese to destroy all traces of the giant alien starfish 'Starro the Conqueror' before it falls into the local government's control led by new dictator, 'Silvio Luna', who wishes to marry Harley.

This screen-used torn red dress and javelin prop from the film were photographed on display at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on October 13, 2025.

In addition to the javelin that the mannequin was holding, the museum also had Harley's baseball bat from 2016's Suicide Squad movie and her mallet from 2020's Birds of Prey movie on display.

In 2021's The Suicide Squad a new oddball batch of dangerous DC supervillains are drafted for the clandestine Task Force X team to take out a new extra-dimensional menace to humanity of the isle of Corto Maltese. Margot Robbie reprises her role as fan-favourite, crazed troublemaker 'Harley Quinn', whilst Idris Elba is the deadly mercenary 'Bloodsport', John Cena is the ruthless 'Peacemaker' determined to achieve peace at any cost and David Dastmalchian is the 'Polka-Dot Man', infected with an inter-dimensional virus.

This quartet of of comic book costumes from James Gunn's standalone sequel to 2016's Suicide Squad were photographed on display at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum on March 22, and with be exhibited alongside many other movie costumes from all different genres until June 4, 2022.

Judianna Makovsky is Costume Designer on the movie and she is no stranger to the superhero universe having designed costumes for Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Captain America: Civil War, to name a few.

Bloodsport costume worn by Idris Elba

In the film Idris Elba plays 'Robert DuBois' aka Bloodsport, a mercenary with an advanced technological suit that can create different gadgets and weaponry. He was convicted of shooting 'Superman' with a Kryptonite bullet and is a offered a place on the covert team in order to reduce his prison sentence.

I love that his helmet design resembles a Xenomorph from the Alien film franchise.

John Cena plays 'Christoper Smith' aka Peacemaker, a vigilante whose efforts to achieve peace at any cost has landed him a 30-year prison sentence.

Presumed killed in action, in a post-credits scene the audience discovers he is actually recovering in hospital, which leads to his own solo television series on HBO Max to further explore his character and motivations.

In the film Harley Quinn is part of a decoy Task Force X team that is almost wiped out by the Corto Maltese military when they infiltrate the island and ends up captured and held by the island's new dictator (hence the red dress, which was originally in one piece), who wishes to marry her.

David Dastmalchian is 'Abner Krill' aka the 'Polka-Dot Man', a metahuman whose powers were created by an experiment gone wrong and an inter-dimensional virus causes him to develop colourful lumps of explosive acidic puss that erupt from his skin.
