Heroes Reborn TV costumes on display...

2015's Heroes Reborn mini-series was a follow-up to Tim Kring's show about people with superpowers which ran for four seasons from 2006 to 2010. This new television incarnation introduced a whole new batch of EVOs (evolved humans) and saw the return of some fan-favourites too, trying to save humanity from destruction.

These 'Katana Girl' and 'El Vengador' costumes from the show, designed by Barbara Somerville (with assistance from Kevin Barry and Michael Ground), were photographed on display at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum on August 9, 2016.

In the thirteen episode event series Kiki Sukezane played 'Miko Otomo', the Japanese martial arts expert and sword wielding 'Katana Girl'.

Katana Girl is a digital creation that can exist in the video game world of Evernow and the real world, based on the likeness and memories of a video game designer's daughter. The lighter pink outfit is the character's street wear look, whilst this darker purple costume is based on the Evernow game fighting look.

When we first meet 'El Vengador' he is a masked East L.A. vigilante by the name of 'Oscar Gutierrez' (played by Marco Grazzini) helping EVOs escape persecution in an underground railroad with his super-strength power (a bit like a Lucha Libre Batman mashup).

When he is killed in action the mantle is taken up by his non-powered brother and troubled war veteran, 'Carlos Gutierrez' (Ryan Guzman). This is the original El Vengador costume, but after an unsuccessful mission as the masked hero, Carlos upgrades this design with kevlar and hydraulic motors to be more durable and enhance his training and strength as a soldier.

If you're a fan of the original series, be sure to enjoy these costumes and props from Heroes on display at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Fans of superheroes can also check out more costumes inspired by comic books on the small and big screens here at Hollywood Movie Costumes and Props.

Zachary Quinto's Sylar costume and original props from TV's Heroes on display...

Before he was cast as the rebooted 'Spock' in JJ Abrams re-invention of the Star Trek movie franchise, Zachary Quinto played the cold-blooded serial killer 'Sylar' in NBC's superhuman series, Heroes, which ran for four seasons from 2006 to 2010.

This is the flashback outfit the actor wore as Sylar's watch repairman alter ego, 'Gabriel Gray', in the first season episode 'Six Months Ago' and was photographed on display at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 7, 2013. The super-powered villain is the 'big bad' in the freshman season of Heroes who killed other super humans to steal their abilities (although his threat and cannibalistic persona was later diluted over the subsequent seasons) and he took his new name from a watch brand.

Also on display at the NBC Universal Experience exhibit on my most recent visit on January 23, 2014, was this collection of screen-used props from the comic book inspired series.

Included in the exhibit were cheerleading pom poms and bag used by Hayden Panettiere as 'Claire Bennet', the cheerleader with rapid healing powers, plus the urn containing the ashes of her supposedly dead adopted father, 'Noah Bennet', from the season two 'Truth & Consequences' episode and the wind chimes of memory-wiping 'Company man', 'The Haitian'.

Movie and TV treasures on display at Universal Studios Hollywood in January 2014...

With it being a New Year and January quickly speeding by, I thought it was about time that I visited Universal Studio Hollywood's ever-changing costume and prop exhibit to see what delights from the big and small screen were currently on display.

I'm pleased to report that there were many new treasures to enjoy from new films and old TV favourites alike, from the world of comedy, action, sci-fi, period drama, sports and more.

In addition to the 'hero' DeLorean car from the Back to the Future movies still on display, there were costumes worn by Melissa McCarthy and Maya Rudolph in the hilarious comedy Bridesmaids from 2011.

Plus a jacket worn by screen legend, Rock Hudson, as 'Police Commissioner Stewart "Mac" McMillan' in the 1970's crime television series, McMillan & Wife, with Burton Miller being the Series Costume Designer.

More recent TV treasures came in the form of props used by Hayden Panettiere as cheerleader 'Claire Bennet' in the superhuman series, Heroes (which ran from 2006 to 2010), and a cute teddy bear prop from House M.D. (which ran from 2004 to 2012).

If you're a fan of these shows, you can also check out Hayden Panettiere's cheerleader outfit from Heroes and other original props from the series, plus costumes and props from House M.D. on display from previous visits to the NBC Universal Experience attraction.

That's just some of the original costumes and props from the film and television studios extensive archives from past and present, so be sure to come back and take a look in more detail at these other delights in the days to come:

Lea Seydoux's period costume and models from 2010's Robin Hood
Mary Steenburgen's Old West gown from Back to the Future III
Costume and props from the Fast & Furious movies

There really is a great variety of film genres, plus lots of different types of clothing and interesting models and props on display. You can actually hear the visitors gasp as they see all the different items and make a connection with a favourite actor, movie or TV show.

As a special treat, here's another blast from the past from a previous visit to the NBC Universal Experience attraction, a model miniature from the 1981 TV mini-series, Masada, which starred Peter O'Toole and Peter Strauss. The story was inspired by the siege of the Masada citadel in Israel by Roman Empire legions in AD 73, hence the need for a siege tower.

You know every time I visit I always think it's a real shame more film and television studios don't have exhibits from their vaults that are open to the public in this way, and that allow photography, as I'm sure there's more than a market for it judging by visitors to my blog alone.

Actual props from Heroes on display...

In the sci-fi series created by Tim Kring, ordinary people discovered they had superhuman abilities, like flight, telepathy, the ability to heal from any wound, or to see visions of the future. Here are some original props featured in the NBC series which lasted four seasons from 2006 to 2010.

Also on display was this torn Alice in Wonderland book belonging to 'Angela Petrelli' and her sister 'Alice', shown in the third season episode '1961'.

Cool props from Heroes TV show on display...

Heroes first season was great genre television, but the superhero series sadly faltered in the second season, due in no small part to the 2007-2008 writers strike. Here are some original props from Tim Kring's comic book TV show on display at Universal Studios Hollywood on November 30, 2011.

Included in the props from the show that aired from 2006 to 2010, was the third issue of 9th Wonders!, the comic drawn by troubled artist and future-seer 'Isaac Mendez', plus read by space-time manipulator and comic book nerd 'Hiro Nakamura'.

Also on display were a toy airplane belonging to 'Nathan Petrelli' and Hot Wheels toy cars from 'Sylar's' childhood, plus a shard of glass that once tested 'Claire Bennet's' regenerative abilities.
