In the sequel to the 2019 film and the television series of the same name, Downton Abbey: A New Era, the 'Crawley' family and staff at the Yorkshire stately home face the future and changing times. Set in 1928, those changes include a wedding, health issues, new admirers, a death of a beloved family matriarch, a visit to a villa in the South of France gifted to the Dowager Countess of Grantham and a film production company wanting to shoot a silent film at Downton. Elizabeth McGovern returns as 'Cora Crawley' the Countess of Grantham and wife of the 7th Earl of Grantham, Laura Carmichael as her middle daughter 'Lady Edith Pelham', now Marchioness of Hexham and Michelle Dockery as her eldest daughter, 'Lady Mary Talbot'.

Screen-worn costumes from Downton Abbey movie on display...
Last year Julian Fellowes historical period drama Downton Abbey made the leap from the small screen to the big screen as the aristocratic 'Crawleys' and their domestic servants welcomed the reigning Royal family to their Yorkshire country estate in 1927. In attendance were Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess 'Violet Crawley', Elizabeth McGovern's 'Cora Crawley' (wife to the 'Earl of Grantham'), Laura Carmichael's 'Lady Edith' and Michelle Dockery's 'Lady Mary Talbot' in all their finery.
Anna Robbins was Costume Designer on the film directed by Michael Engler and you can see more of her costumes from the Downton Abbey movie and series on display.

Michelle Dockery and Allen Leech Downton Abbey movie costumes on display...
After six season on television, Downton Abbey is making the jump to the big screen this year, continuing the historical period drama by Julian Fellowes. The drama set at the fictional Yorkshire country estate in Britain from 1912 to 1926 follows the lives of the aristocratic 'Crawley' family and their domestic servants, the ultimate upstairs downstairs series. This feature-length film version is set in 1927 and sees the 'Earl of Grantham' and his family and staff hosting the Royal family, as King George V and Queen Mary pay a visit to Downton Abbey.

These period costumes from the movie worn by Michelle Dockery as 'Lady Mary Talbot' and Allen Leech as 'Tom Branson' at the Harewood House ball were photographed on display at ArcLight Hollywood cinema on September 7, 2019.
Anna Mary Scott Robbins is Costume Designer on the film directed by Michael Engler, and fans of the TV series can also enjoy these other costumes from Downton Abbey on display previously.
Plus Michelle Dockery fans can also check out her costume from the Western limited series Godless on display.

Downton Abbey Emmy-nominated costumes on display at FIDM Museum...
Another show which I bid a fond farewell to this year (at least in the U.S.) was Downton Abbey. Just like millions of viewers on both sides of the Atlantic, and around the world, I was captivated by this British historical period drama set in a Yorkshire stately home which followed the lives of the aristocratic Crawley Family and their working class staff from 1912 to 1925.
These period costumes were photographed on display at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum at the 10th Art of Television Costume Design Exhibition on August 9, 2016.
When I was growing up in Britain I never liked period dramas like Upstairs, Downstairs, but as I've grown older and now that I live in L.A., there's something about historical Britain that fascinates me.
If you're a fan of the actress, be sure to also check out her costumes from Disney's live-action Cinderella movie on display.
Plus if you like these looks, be sure to check out more period drama costumes from the big and small screen here at Hollywood Movie Costumes and Props.
P.S. I know for a fact I'd be one of the downstairs staff if I lived in the days of Downton Abbey.
