In 2010 Jake Gyllenhaal brought the popular video game, Prince of Persia, to life on the big screen as the renegade prince 'Dastan', who is a former street urchin adopted by 'King Sharaman'. Together with Gemma Arterton's Princess Tamina' and an ancient dagger that reverses time, they must stop an evil villain, Ben Kingsley's 'Prince Nizam', who threatens to destroy the world.

These costumes were photographed on display at Disney's D23 Expo on August 13, 2020 and Penny Rose was the Costume Designer on the film directed by Mike Newell.

According to the signage, Dastan's signature coat design was inspired by an original piece of Persian embroidery approximately 700 or 800 years old.

In the Disney film, Ben Kingsley plays the scheming uncle of prince Dastan and brother of King Sharaman.

Dastan's Prince of Persia costume and Dagger of Time prop...

Jake Gyllenhaal plays the titular Prince of Persia in Disney's live-action adaptation of the popular video console game. This is one of the costumes he wears as 'Dastan', an orphaned street urchin raised to royalty in the historic Persian Empire.

This costume, worn during the attack on the scared city of Alamut at the start of the movie, was designed by Penny Rose and was photographed on display at Walt Disney Studios on January 13, 2011.

Also included in the exhibit along with the outfit were Dastan's swords, plus the mystical Dagger of Time, one of multiple versions of the prop used during filming.

In Disney's 2010 sand and sandals fantasy adventure, Prince of Persia, Gemma Arterton plays 'Princess Tamina' of the sacred city of Alamut, a guardian of 'The Sands of Time'.

The amulet around Tamina's neck, on display with this dress, holds the fabled Sands of Time which are integral to the movie's plot.

Pirates of the Caribbean costumer, Penny Rose, was also responsible for the wardrobe designs on Prince of Persia.

Recently I ventured to Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California to take some photographs of the new film and television costumes on display in the Frank G. Wells building foyer of the company's international headquarters, for all staff and guests to admire.

Included in the exhibit of original outfits from Disney movies and ABC Studios photographed on January 13, 2011 were:

Red dress worn by Mia Wasikowska and a Hatter Clan costume from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

'Balthazar' costume worn by Nicholas Cage in The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Jack Davenport's costume as 'Norrington' from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Original outfits worn by Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton as 'Dastan' and 'Princess Tamina' in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Dharma Initiative coveralls worn by 'Sawyer' and 'Kate' in TV's LOST

These costumes replace the previous outfits from Disney films such as Prince Caspian, High School Musical 3, Enchanted, Hannah Montana and Alice in Wonderland.

There seem to be an abundance of movie exhibits in L.A. at the moment to promote Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. This new collection of original costumes and props featured in the Disney fantasy-adventure movie was photographed at ArcLight Sherman Oaks cinema on June 7, 2010.

Included in this selection are costumes worn by Jake Gyllenhaal as the heroic 'Dastan' and Gemma Arterton as the resourceful 'Princess Tamina'.

Also on display with the fantastic costumes were original props used in the making of the film, including a selection of ornate swords.

There was also another copy of the Dagger of Time which was also on display at the El Capitan Theatre. Luckily on this version you can see the detail of the legendary blade even more clearly, plus also its accompanying sheath.

And finally for the props was another copy of Tamina's necklace that also held some of the 'Sands of Time' like the mystical dagger she protected.
