The movie Women Talking adapts Miriam Toews 2018 novel of the same name inspired by the real-life events that occurred at the isolated religious Manitoba Colony in Bolivia in 2010. The hard-hitting drama sees the women of the Mennonite community in an unnamed U.S. location grapple with their faith after it is revealed the men there have drugged and raped the women and girls at night for years. The film stars Frances McDormand, Claire Foy, Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod, Liv McNeil, Kate Hallett and August Winter.
