After the year we've all had we could all use some extra magic in our lives (even if it's a little dark magic), so I thought I'd search through my costume archives for some spellbinding witch and sorceress screen-worn looks to entertain you all with.

Screen-worn Hocus Pocus film costumes on display...
I've been doing this blogging thing for over eleven years now, and even though technology, search engines and social media platforms have moved on, one thing has remained constant, Disney fans love for the Hocus Pocus movie costumes that I posted way back in August 2011 from the second D23 Expo. Fortunately at this year's convention, the three spellbinding costumes worn by Kathy Najimy, Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker were once again on display as part of the fabulous Walt Disney Archives Heroes & Villains exhibit. These outfits were worn by the 'Sanderson Sisters', witches inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween in the 1993 fantasy comedy-horror.

Plus the exhibit also included the vacuum cleaner prop used instead of a witches broom in the 1993 film.
If you were bewitched by these outfits, maybe you'll also enjoy these other witch costumes from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, this Wicked Witch costume from Oz: The Great and Powerful and Meryl Streep's witch costumes from Into the Woods on display.
Hopefully all these screen-worn costumes will supply some spooky inspiration this Halloween.

Hocus Pocus movie costumes and props on display...
In Disney's 1993 comedy fantasy, Hocus Pocus, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy starred as three witch sisters resurrected after 300 years in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween.

Winifred Sanderson in Hocus Pocus

At this year's Disney D23 Expo they had these three fantastic costumes worn by the lead actresses on display in the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit on August 19, 2011.
Bette Midler stars as the eldest and leader of the Sanderson sisters, Winifred 'Winnie' Sanderson, and probably for this reason and the fact that she was the most famous actress in the movie, wore the most beautiful outfit in these rich emerald green and purple colours.

In addition to Winifred's spectacular wardrobe, they also had this fantastic statue of the witch on display that was featured at the end of the movie when she is turned to stone.

Before her Sex and the City television fame, Sarah Jessica Parker starred as the youngest sorceress sister, 'Sarah Sanderson', and wore this original costume.

Finally, Sister Act's 'Sister Mary Patrick', Kathy Najimy, played 'Mary Sanderson' the third witch sister, and she wore this costume designed by Mary E. Vogt. You can also see more of the designer's work in the Men in Black movies, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Inspector Gadget.

Cool costumes, models and props at Disney's D23 Expo..
If you're a Disney fan then you'll love the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, but if you're a fan of original movie costumes, props and models, you may just love it a little bit more than the others attending.
Disney's D23 Expo

The three day event which runs from August 19-21 is the second expo following the inaugural convention in 2009, but this time the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit is even bigger and better, double the size of the original expo.
Pirates of the Caribbean Black Pearl miniature on display

In the lower convention halls you be greeted by this spectacular Black Pearl miniature pirate ship from the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies, then upstairs you can enjoy the 12,000-square-foot costume and prop exhibit.
Original movie costumes from Disney's Tron from 1982

Probably the highlight for me was this fantastic costumes worn in the original Tron movie, which was displayed incredibly, the lighting really helping to show of the iconic sci-fi outfits.
Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland battle outfits

The Disney exhibit also had several wonderful costumes worn by Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland 2010 live-action movie, some of which I'd not had the pleasure to see up close before.
If you're a fan, be sure to check out more of Colleen Atwood's Oscar-winning costume designs from Alice in Wonderland here at Hollywood Movie Costumes and Props.
Original costumes from Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3

Of course it wouldn't be a Disney event without some costumes from their successful Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, and the expo not only had costumes and props from the latest film, On Stranger Tides, but also a wonderful display from Dead Man's Chest and At World's End.
Cruella De Vil's office set from 101 Dalmatians

To mark the 50th anniversary of the animated classic, 101 Dalmatians, they also recreated Cruella de Vil's office from the 1996 live-action movie version, which stood alongside two of the spectacular costumes that Glenn Close wore as the iconic villain in the movie and its sequel.
Original costumes from LOST on display

TV fans weren't disappointed either, as they had really impressive display of costumes and props from the pilot episode of the phenomenally successful television series LOST, plus the Dharma Initiative van. In addition you could exclusively see actual costumes from the late 50's TV version of Zorro.

There was so much nostalgic movie memorabilia that it brought back many long forgotten and cherished memories, from films like The Rocketeer and even Hocus Pocus.

Be sure to stay tuned in the coming days for even more detailed photos of costumes, props, vehicles and models photographed on display at Disney's D23 Expo on August 19, 2011 including:
Bob Hoskins and Joanna Cassidy's costumes from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, plus great props and models from the movie
The DHARMA Initiative VW van, props and costumes from TV's LOST
Original Hocus Pocus witch costumes

I thoroughly enjoyed the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives and thought it was filled with loads of great movie magic and beautifully presented.
If you were fortunate enough to go to Disney's D23 Expo, let me know what your favourite costume or prop was.
