In Thor: Love and Thunder, Christian Bale joins the growing ranks of the MCU's supervillains playing the vengeful 'Gorr the God Butcher'. His character is part of an alien race, seemingly abandoned by their deity to die on a barren planet. Losing his daughter to the elements despite his prayers to their god 'Rapu', finally in his presence he takes up the god-killing Necrosword and strikes down the deity. Corrupted by the sword and able to manipulate shadows and create monsters, he takes his wrath across the universe and starts killing other gods, which ultimately leads him to confront 'Thor' and his friends.

In the MCU film directed by Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe plays the Olympian God of Sky and Thunder, and leader of the Greek pantheon, 'Zeus', who wields a mighty lightning bolt weapon.

The bisexual shield-maiden and reigning sovereign of New Asgard travels with her companions to Omnipotence City to help find a weapon to take on Christian Bale's vengeful 'Gorr the God Butcher'.
