Swords and scenery props from Prince of Persia...

Presented along with the fabulous movie costumes in the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time exhibit at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood was also a fantastic array of weaponry and props featured in the film, from swords, shields, axes, turbans and even ceramic elephants, to the legendary 'Dagger of Time'.

The ancient and mystical dagger capable of unleashing the apocalyptic 'Sands of Time' is an integral plot element in the movie. Prince Dastan's evil uncle 'Nazim' wants to use the dagger to turn back time so he can claim the throne and rule the lands of Persia instead of his brother.
During the course of the movie it changes hands many times from Dastan to 'Princess Tamina', and is even swallowed whole by a viper.

Here it is presented atop the ceremonial altar, as it was seen in the movie in the scared city of 'Alamut', where it was protected by Princess Tamina and her followers. I believe this dagger prop is one of many created for filming to be used in the movies many different stunts and scenes.

It's always great to see props used in movies you've seen up close to see the detail and amount of artistry that goes into making them seem as authentic as they do.

The exhibit has a selection of weapons from the movie used by the different warring factions, from axes, helmets and infantry shields used by the Alamut army protecting their sacred city, to swords used by the invading Persian army and even those wielded by 'Sheik Amar's' private army.

In addition to all the wonderful weapons featured in the film, was this bejeweled Sultan's Turban and other headdresses worn by members of the opposing forces armies and royal guard.

Other props and scenery from the movie also help to bring the Persian Empire of the sixth century alive, like the ornate gilded cage and decorative elephants below.
And finally, also on display was this amulet worn by Princes Tamina, which also held some of the fabled 'Sands of Time', plus the giant key that Dastan and the princess use to escape from Sheik Amar's clutches in the saltmine tunnels.
