Today I thought I'd bring you a magical blast from the past, costumes worn by Whitney Houston as the 'Fairy Godmother' and Brandy as 'Cinderella' in the 1997 Rodgers and Hammerstein fairytale TV movie. In the musical fantasy, Cinderella is mistreated by her wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters, but with the help of her Fairy Godmother she's able to attend the royal ball and win her true love.

Ellen Mirojnick was Costume Designer on the telemovie, with Whitney Houston's golden costume inspired by artist Gustav Klimt's work.
These costumes from the rags to riches tale were photographed on display at Disney's D23 Expo on August 23, 2019, part of the Walt Disney Archives Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume exhibit.
For more costumes for this classic fairytale make sure you also check out these costumes from 2015's live-action Cinderella movie, Anna Kendrick's Cinderella costume from Into the Woods and Once Upon a Time's Cinderella costume on display.

I love the gowns and suits worn by the guests at the ball in Cinderella (1997). The costumes were in vibrant shades of violet and blue and the dresses were gorgeous. Do you have any photos of them?
ReplyDeletesorry, these were the only costumes from the movie on display.
