In December 2013 NBC started the trend for live TV musical events with The Sound of Music Live!, which they followed in subsequent years with Peter Pan Live!, The Wiz! and in December 2016 they adapted Hairspray Live! This live broadcast event based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, tackling issues about body image and racial integration, starred Maddie Baillio as 1960s Baltimore teenager 'Tracy Turnblad', Harvey Fierstein as her mother 'Edna Turnblad', Jennifer Hudson as 'Motormouth Maybelle', Dove Cameron as 'Amber Von Tussle' and Sean Hayes as 'Mr. Pinky'.

Vogt was Costume Designer and Carolyn Dessert-Lauterio was Costume Supervisor on this televised musical spectacular and these Emmy-nominated 1960s-inspired costumes were photographed on display at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum on August 23, 2017.You can also admire more of Mary E.
