The film is a coming of age drama for a teenage girl in 1960's suburban London, who finds herself in a whirlwind romance with a dashing, yet much older playboy.

These outfits, designed by Odile Dicks-Mireaux (The Constant Gardener), were photographed on September 28, 2009.
The film is based on part of the memoirs of British journalist Lynn Barber and has a screenplay by About a Boy's Nick Hornby.

ReplyDeleteOdile was indeed the costume designer for the film but rather than design all the outfits, she opted to seek out authentic vintage dresses and accessories, dated circa 1961 for Rosamund and Carey. I know because I supplied some of the vintage garments for the film to include the pink chiffon dress shown here and the dress that Carey wears in the film's poster. I also supplied a gold lurex dress, that was designed by Ceil Chapman and another Chapman design, a navy linen dress with lace collar (both worn by Rosamund)as well as a couple of bags - laquered straw clutch and black shoulder bag, shoes and lingerie. I will be selling these garments in my Wimbledon Village, London UK shop ADvintaged.
ReplyDeleteHey fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the info, it's great to have such insider gossip.
I wish I could see this! Too bad I live all the way in Australia :(
ReplyDeleteIs this still on? I can link to it from my blog post if it is.
Sadly it was a temporary exhibit (but there for a couple of weeks) - that's why I took the pictures, to share with everyone else who couldn't make it :-)
