This is the final installment of movie memorabilia on display at the Stanley Kubrick exhibit at LACMA that I photographed on January 10, 2013 and these props are from the filmmaker's 1968 vision of the future, 2001: A Space Odyssey.

These original props featured in the sci-fi epic helped create the futuristic look of the film, including these modernist Djinn chair and sofa designs by Olivier Mourge which featured in the travel lounges found aboard the orbiting Space Station V.

When making the film, Stanley Kubrick approached a variety of companies to design futuristic looking products for the movie, including the U.S. watchmaking company Hamilton.

Also featured in the movie were these examples of minimalist cutlery by Arne Jacobsen, which had the perfect sleek and futuristic look for the science fiction film.

Included alongside these original props was this reproduction of the classic Discovery One spaceship, which was controlled by the HAL 9000 mainframe computer.If you're a fan of the legendary director, be sure you take a look at all these other original props, costumes and models from the Stanley Kubrick exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
My late uncle Terry Duggan was one of the Apes in the cult movie. Years later I worked on The Shinning with Stanley Kubrick .
