Written and directed by Jordan Peele, the science fiction horror Nope is set in Agua Dulce, California and follows the Haywood family who train and handle horses for film and television productions. After 'Otis Haywood Sr.' is killed when a nickel that falls from the sky, presumably from an airplane, his son 'Otis "OJ" Haywood Jr.' (Daniel Kaluuya) and his sister 'Emerald "Em" Haywood' (Keke Palmer) take over the running of the ranch business. When their horses mysteriously disappear, or appear spooked by an unknown presence, they suspect a UFO has been taking them and recruit Fry's Electronics tech employee 'Angel Torres' (Brandon Perea) to install surveillance cameras to capture evidence and sell footage of the UFO. Local teenagers dress as faux aliens to prank the family, but rather than a spaceship piloted by extra-terrestrials, the UFO turns out to be a predatory flying alien that eats its prey and regurgitates inorganic material from above.
