Even though Damien Chazelle's ode to the excess, cruelty, debauchery and corruption in the silent era of Hollywood, Babylon, was a box office bomb, it still managed to score three Academy Award nominations for Original Score, Production Design and Costume Design by Mary Zophres. The film follows multiple characters, including Margot Robbie as the ambitious actress 'Nellie La Roy' and Li Jun Li's lesbian cabaret performer 'Lady Fay Zhu', as they navigate the decadence and depravity of early Hollywood.
