Life-size Xenomorph creature model from Alien: Romulus on display...

In 2024 Director Fede Alvarez went back to basics for a new generation of viewers with his installment in the Alien film franchise, Alien: Romulus, pitting a ragtag group of young colonists against one of the most deadliest life forms in the universe. Hoping to improve their chances to escape their mining colony lives and indentured work contracts for mega corporation Weyland-Yutani, a young orphaned colonist, her malfunctioning android and friends attempt to scavenge a derelict space station which unbeknownsts to them has recovered a large cocoon from the wreckage of the USCSS Nostromo. Soon they are facing the terrifying acid-for-blood, razor-toothed, multi-jawed, whip-tailed, armoured killing machines in space (where no one can hear you scream).

This towering life-size Special Effects model from Alien: Romulus was captured on display as part of The Horror Show exhibition at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on October 4, 2026.

Visual effects company Legacy Effects was responsible for the creation of this Xenomorph creature which really does look impressively extraterrestrial and otherworldly, and not just a man in a monster suit, with Shane Mahan, Lindsay Macgowan, J. Alan Scott, Darnell Isom, Scott Patton, Rob Ramsdell and Christopher Swift responsible for its design and fabrication.

Fans of this new installment in the Alien film franchise can also enjoy these screen-used costumes and props from Alien: Romulus on display at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre during the movies' theatrical release.

Make sure you also check out a screen-worn Xenomorph costume from James Cameron's Aliens previously on display at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park in Orlando, Florida.

Wesley Snipes Blade movie costume on display...

Wesley Snipes may have reprised his role as the antihero vampire hunter 'Blade' in the recent Deadpool & Wolverine movie, but he first brought the Marvel character to life on the big screen in 1998, well before the X-Men, Spider-Man, Hulk and Iron Man graced cinema screens. In Director Stephen Norrington's action horror film, Blade is a half-human, half-immortal vampire out to avenge his mother's death and protect humanity from evil vampires like Stephen Dorff's 'Deacon Frost'.

This screen-worn costume was photographed as part of The Horror Show exhibition at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on October 4, 2026 (images are photographed with a compact camera and iPhone, hence the slight lighting variations).

Blade's modernized jian sword also on display was created by master blacksmith and sword maker Tony Swatton.

Sanja Milkovic Hays is Costume Designer on this comic book-inspired movie and responsible for the Daywalker's black leather trench coat, tactical gear and dark sunglasses look.

The Costume Designer is no stranger to Marvel comic book movies and her work can also be seen with these Thunderbolts movie costumes and these Captain Marvel movie costumes, plus she was also the designer on these Star Trek: Beyond movie costumes and these screen-worn costumes from The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

It was great to see Wesley Snipes bring the fan favourite into the MCU fighting alongside Deadpool, Wolverine, Elektra and X23, and it's such a shame that Marvel Studios messed up with the previously planned reboot of Blade starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.

In the sequel to DC's 2016 Suicide Squad movie, the task force of killers, mercenaries and supervillains head to the South American island nation of Corto Maltese to destroy all traces of the giant alien starfish 'Starro the Conqueror' before it falls into the local government's control led by new dictator, 'Silvio Luna', who wishes to marry Harley.

Halle Berry's Storm movie costume from X-Men on display...

Last Monday I finally made it to the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles and was thrilled by all the screen-used costumes, props, set pieces and more on display there. Being an avid Marvel Comics reader since the 1980s, if I had to say what my favourite discovery there was, the thing that really got my nerdy fanboy heart pounding, it would be Halle Berry's weather-controlling 'Ororo Monroe' aka 'Storm' costume from 2000's X-Men movie. The film really was the start of the modern superhero movie era and saw the telepathic 'Professor Charles Xavier' and his band of former students and super-powered teachers at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters take on 'Magneto', the Master of Magnetism, and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants on the big screen for the first time.

You can also check out Louise Mingenbach's designed Superman Returns costume worn by Brandon Routh on display.

If you get a chance, do yourself a favour and go and see Storm's costume up close and in person, it just hits differently.
