Ali Rose costume worn by Christina Aguilera
in Burlesque
First up is this Swarovski-adorned and feathered corset worn by Christiana Aguilera as 'Ali Rose' opposite Cher in the 2010 movie, Burlesque. The pop star plays a small-town girl who moves to L.A. to follow her dreams and ends up working at and becoming the star attraction at Cher's ailing Burlesque Lounge.
Michael Kaplan was Costume Designer on the musical movie written and directed by Steven Antin and this outfit was photographed along with two other Burlesque movie costumes on display at ArcLight Hollywood cinema during the film's theatrical release in November 2010.
Screen-worn La La Land movie costumes
In 2016's Oscar-winning romantic musical La La Land, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling play an actress and pianist navigate their careers and falling in love in modern day Los Angeles.
Mary Zophres was the Oscar-nominated Costume Designer on director Damien Chazelle's film with music composed by Justin Hurwitz, so be sure to take closer look at more screen-worn costumes from La La Land.

Mary Poppins costume worn by Julie Andrews
From contemporary musicals to an iconic classic, Julie Andrews were this original costume as the magical nanny in Disney's 1964 adaptation of Mary Poppins, based on the books by P. L. Travers.
Tony Walton was nominated for an Academy Award for Costume Design on the family fantasy musical directed by Robert Stevenson. This infamous look was captured on display at Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California in August 2019.

in Rock of Ages
In 2012 the rock jukebox Broadway musical, Rock of Ages, was adapted for the big screen and featured the music of many glam metal artists like Def Leppard, Journey, Joan Jett, Poison, Bon Jovi and more besides.
In the film directed by Adam Shankman, Tom Cruise played self-indulgent rock star 'Stacee Jaxx' and wore this outfit designed by Rita Ryack.
This costume was photographed alongside other Rock of Ages film costumes worn by Mary J. Blige and Alec Baldwin at ArcLight Hollywood cinema in May 2012.

in Jem and the Holograms
In 2015 the 1980s cartoon series, Jem and the Holograms, was adapted for the big screen as a live-action musical fantasy comedy-drama with Aubrey Peeples as the titular pop star character. The film directed by Jon M. Chu follows the small-town girl and her sisters as their homemade video goes viral and turns them into global superstars.
Soyon An was Costume Designer on this movie adaptation and these costumes from Jem and the Holograms were captured on display at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum in February 2016.
Prince tribute costumes from Black-ish
In 2018 for the fifth season of the American sitcom Black-ish, the 'Johnson' family played tribute to the music legend Prince in their 100th music-filled episode.
Yara Shahidi, Anthony Anderson, Tracee Ellis Ross and more wore costumes fashioned after Prince's iconic style and Michelle R. Cole was Emmy-nominated for recreating these looks.

In 2008 Disney Channel's successful High School Musical franchise took to the big screen for its third and final installment, which followed the East High students during their Senior Year.
Ashley Tisdale starred as glamorous Drama Club president 'Sharpay Evans' and wore this graduation outfit designed by Caroline B. Marx in the film directed by Kenny Ortega, which was photographed on display at Disney Studios HQ in Burbank, California.

The 'Barden Bellas' were back for a movie sequel in 2015, with Anna Kendrick's 'Beca Mitchell' and the girls headed to the A cappella World Championships in Copenhagen and taking on the German super group 'Das Sound Machine'.

The actress wears this fabulous Thanksgiving turkey costume designed by Melina Root in the sixth episode of the first season and was photographed alongside other costumes from Crazy Ex-Girlfriend at L.A.'s FIDM Museum in August 2016.

And the final costume today is from Disney's romantic musical comedy spoof Enchanted from 2007, which starred Amy Adams as fairytale princess 'Giselle' who find herself transported from her cartoon world to the live-action land of New York City where she finds her true love.
Mona May was Costume Designer on the joyful musical fantasy directed by Kevin Lima and this fairytale gown was photographed on display at Disney's D23 Expo in August 2019.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Mary Poppins stage and movie costumes on display...
At last year's Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, California the various costume incarnations of Mary Poppins were magically exhibited together, from the Broadway musical (worn by the likes of Ashley Brown, Scarlett Strallen and Laura Michelle Kelley) to Julie Andrews 1964 original and Emily Blunt's 2018 sequel, Mary Poppins Returns.

This trio of costumes worn by the magical British nanny inspired by the books of P. L. Travers were photographed on August 23, 2019, as part of the Walt Disney Archives Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume exhibition.

More Mary Poppins costumes and props on display at Disney D23 Expo...
In addition to the two wonderful outfits worn by Julie Andrews as the titular nanny in Disney's 1964 big screen musical, Mary Poppins, the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit at the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 9, 2013 also had a wonderful selection of lesser seen costumes and props on display.

Also on display beside the adult's outfits were clothes worn by the two lead children in the movie who accompany their fantastical caretaker on unbelievable adventures, played by Matthew Garber and Karen Dotrice as The Banks siblings.

In addition to the costumes, the D23 Expo exhibit also had Mary Poppins seemingly bottomless magical carpet bag on display, which was cool to see up close, like seeing a little piece of Hollywood history.Actual screen-used Mary Poppins props on display
Other props included were original alphabet nursery blocks used in the movie to spell out Mary Poppins, a jack-in-the-box toy, a St. Paul's Cathedral snow globe used by Julie Andrews and even a chimney sweep brush, probably from the musical's 'Chim Chim Cher-ee' song and dance number.Be sure to stay tuned for even more fantastic costumes, props and memorabilia on display at this year's Disney D23 Expo in the days to come.
