Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning Maleficent movie costumes on display...

This Disney villain has been terrifying children since 1959's animated classic Sleeping Beauty, but now Angelina Jolie has been perfectly cast in the live-action origin story of the malevolent fairy, Maleficent.

Angelina Jolie Maleficent movie forest costume
As she lives in the forest you can see that Maleficent's clothing is influenced by nature, like animal skins, feathers and bones, even the colour choices of this garment are very earthy. Her spiky, edgy-looking ring and bracelet jewelry looks like it is made from wood or bone materials. She wears this costume when we are introduced to the grown-up Maleficent flying high over The Moors.

Be sure to also take a look at Maleficent's Christening curse costume and if you're a fan of the actress, be sure to also check out Angelina Jolie's 1920's period costume from Changeling.

In addition to this woodland Maleficent outfit, they also had this hooded costume (minus the belt) worn by Elle Fanning as the infamous Sleeping Beauty herself, Princess Aurora, who the vindictive fairy curses as a baby.

I'm sure all you costumers out there will appreciate the embroidery detail on the sleeves, neckline and hem of the dress.

If you're Disney fan, be sure to check out more Disney movie costumes and props on display from past exhibits like Muppets Most Wanted, Mary Poppins, Oz The Great and Powerful, Alice in Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean and more besides.

Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde movie costumes from the Endless Love remake...

Movie studios seem to have a fascination with remaking classic movies (more than often not as well) and one of the latest from this year is the reimagined romance, Endless Love, which originally starred Brooke Shields and Martin Hewitt as the teens madly in love in 1981, but now stars the young talents of Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde, in the second big screen adaptation of Scott Spencer's novel.

Stacy Battat was responsible for Costume Design on the movie, whilst the candlestick prop is significant for the fire that is started in Jade's house towards the end of the movie.

Be sure to also check out more original costumes and props on display at the NBC Universal Experience exhibit from the small and big screen on my most recent visit.

Costumes from TV's Psych on display...

The crime comedy drama Psych ran for eight seasons on USA Network from its debut in July 2006 to the series finale in March 2014. The show centered on James Roday as 'Shawn Spencer' whose observational skills and eidetic memory make it appear than he has psychic abilities and allows him to be a freelance consultant with the Santa Barbara Police Department. He's joined in his investigations by his best friend and business partner 'Burton "Gus" Guster' (played by Dulé Hill).

These costumes worn by the actors in the TV series, with Costume Design by Simon Tuke, were photographed on display at the NBC Universal Experience exhibit on April 15, 2014.

One the left is the outfit worn by James Roday as Shawn Spencer when he goes undercover at a telenovela studio and pretends to play 'Chad' the delivery man in episode thirteen of the second season, 'Lights, camera... Homicidio'.

The other more iconic looking, and timely costume with the release of Michael Jackson's latest album, is an homage to the King of Pop's red leather Thriller jacket, worn in this case by Dulé Hill as 'Gus' when he goes undercover as a contestant in a singing talent show contest in the vein of American Idol in the season two opener.

Megan Hilty's Ivy Lynn Smash opening night dress on display...

Following on from the initial success of the musical dramedy Glee on Fox, NBC in a surprisingly risky move developed its own more grown up version called Smash, based on the infamous world of New York's stage musicals. The show about bringing an original 'Marilyn Monroe' musical called 'Bombshell' to the dazzling lights of Broadway debuted in February 2012 and ran for two seasons.

The series primarily saw experienced chorus girl 'Ivy Lynn' played by Megan Hilty vying for the starring role as Marilyn against newcomer 'Karen Cartwright' (Katherine McPhee), alongside an impressive cast which included Anjelica Huston, Debra Messing, Jack Davenport and Christian Borle.

In the second season Ivy landed her dream role as the lead in Bombshell and wore this sparkling starburst dress in the twelfth episode, 'Opening Night', at a party for the stage musical's debut. Joseph G. Aulisi was Costume Designer on season two of the show.

The show enjoyed mixed reviews and lower ratings as the seasons progressed, even with a bit of a season two reboot which removed most of the annoying characters and tried to fix the problems with the musical drama, but by that stage it was too late, which is a shame as I loved the show and its journey to Broadway storyline and original songs.

I hope we'll see more costumes from Smash, like this dazzling dress on display on April 15, 2014, at Universal Studios Hollywood's costume and prop archive exhibit in the future.
