After Brie Larson's 'Captain Marvel' destroyed the Kree's AI leader, the 'Supreme Intelligence', their empire descended into thirty years of civil war and their homeworld of Hala's atmosphere was ruined, their oceans dried up and their sun died. Now the revolutionary warrior and Accuser 'Dar-Benn' (Zawe Ashton) leads her people as the new Supremor, out for revenge on the 'Annihilator' of their people, and using the mythical Quantum Bands and the Universal Weapon hammer she targets the planetary resources of Captain Marvel's allies using the universe's jump point teleportation network to siphon their air, water and sunshine. To defeat Dar-Benn and protect the universe, 'Carol Danvers' must team up with other light-powered heroes, 'Captain Monica Rambeau' and 'Ms. Marvel', when their unique abilities become entangled.

In the movie the character of Dar-Benn has been gender flipped from their Marvel Comics counterpart.

In The Marvels, Samuel L. Jackson's former S.H.I.E.L.D. director 'Nick Fury' is now working in low Earth orbit on the S.A.B.E.R. (Strategic Aerospace Biophysics and Exolinguistic Response) space station alongside aliens like the Skrulls and humans like 'Captain Monica Rambeau' (Teyonah Parris). The spymaster asks his old friend 'Carol Danvers' aka 'Captain Marvel' (Brie Larson) to investigate a jump point anomaly in her part of the galaxy and her light-based powers become entangled with those of Monica's and New Jersey superhero 'Kamala Khan' aka 'Ms. Marvel' (Iman Vellani), causing them to switch locations whenever they activate their unique powers. Together they must team up to stop a Kree revolutionary and her followers from destroying planets to restore their homeward of Hala and threatening the entire universe in the process.

Monica Rambeau movie costume worn by Teyonah Parris in The Marvels on display...

In The Marvels 'Monica Rambeau' (played by Teyonah Parris) reunites with her 'Aunt Carol' aka 'Captain Marvel' (Brie Larson), but things have changed since they last saw each other and she was called 'Lieutenant Trouble' as a child. Her mother and Carol's best friend 'Maria Rambeau' died from cancer when Monica was "blipped", she then went to work for S.W.O.R.D. and during WandaVision acquired electromagnetic spectrum powers of her own passing through the Westview Hex energy field created by 'Wanda Maximoff'. Trained as an astronaut and now a Captain aboard Nick Fury's S.A.B.E.R. space station in low Earth orbit, when investigating a jump point anomaly her powers become entangled with Captain Marvel and 'Ms. Marvel' (Iman Vellani) causing them to switch places whenever they use their light-based powers. This trio must team up to defeat the Kree Accuser 'Dar-Benn' who is using the interplanetary jump point network to steal the resources of alien worlds, but at the same time destabilizing the network and endangering the entire universe.

Lindsay Pugh is Costume Designer on director Nia DaCosta's MCU debut, and responsible for creating Monica's 'Photon' super-suit (a name she never adopts in the movie, but which was her mother's U.S. Air Force pilot callsign and is used on merchandise for the film).

Monica receives her black and white costume (which is similar the S.A.B.E.R. station uniforms) courtesy of 'Prince Yan' of the water planet Aladna and initially it comes with sleeves which is an ode to her original comic book look.

I love the DNA Double Helix on the sleeve detail and I'm slightly obsessed with the stitching and design of her black knee-high boots. She looks great in action in the movie.

Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel movie costume from The Marvels on display...

Undoubtedly the MVP of the latest MCU movie, The Marvels, is Iman Velani who plays 'Kamala Khan' aka 'Ms.Marvel' with such joy, empathy and enthusiasm. In the film directed by Nia DaCosta the hard light-powered New Jersey Muslim superhero gets to meet and team up with her idol 'Carol Danvers' aka 'Captain Marvel' (Brie Larson) and other light-powered hero and S.A.B.E.R. space station agent, 'Monica Rambeau' (Teyonah Parris), after their similar powers become entangled. When the Kree warrior zealot 'Dar-Benn' (Zawe Ashton) finds an ancient artifact we learn that Kamala's grandmother's bangle is part of a pair of Quantum Bands, which in mythology were used to create the Jump Points teleportation system in the Marvel Universe. When Dar-Benn uses her band and the Universal Weapon hammer she wields to keep open jump points to steal the natural resources of other planets, she endangers not just the inhabitants, but the entire universe.

Ms. Marvel's new-look red, gold and blue costume was gifted to her by 'Prince Yan' of the water planet Aladna in the film and she uses her scarf offensively like a whip against attacking Kree soldiers.
