In last December's worldwide box office smash Aquaman, Jason Momoa plays 'Arthur Curry', the half-human, half-Atlantean heir to there throne of Atlantis. In his first solo outing the DC Comics character teams-up with Amber Heard's 'Mera' to stop his half-brother, the power-hungry 'King Orm' from using the undersea kingdom of Atlantis to wage war against the surface world.

The DC aquatic hero was created in 1941 by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger and in this movie incarnation has the power to manipulate the ocean's tides, swim at superhuman speeds, possesses superhuman strength and the ability to communicate with other aquatic life.

This armoured look is a great interpretation of this classic gold and green costume and certainly not a costume to be joked about.

Mera costume worn by Amber Heard in Aquaman

In the superhero movie 'Mera' is an Atlantean warrior and the daughter of 'King Nereus', raised by 'Queen Atlanna' and groomed to become queen.

Created by in 1963 by Jack Miller and Nick Cardy, in the film this queen of the sea possesses hydrokinetic and telepathic powers that allow her to control her underwater environment and communicate with other Atlanteans.

Amber Heard fans can also enjoy getting a look at her film costume from The Danish Girl on display.

Justice League movie costume exhibit...

DC's iconic superteam, the Justice League, finally make it to the big screen this November and to promote the comic book movie the ArcLight Hollywood cinema currently has this character exhibit on display in its foyer. I think these are pretty detailed promotional cinema statues and not actual costumes, but hopefully they will prove to be good for costume reference for fans, cosplayers and costumers in the future.

Michael Wilkinson is Costume Designer on the movie which unites the DC universe's metahumans and crime-fighters 'Cyborg', 'The Flash', Wonder Woman', 'Batman' and 'Aquaman' (and most probably 'Superman' back from the dead too).
