In the second season of HBO's television adaptation of Michael Crichton's Westworld movie from 1973, we learn that there are far more than just Western-themed amusement parks for the super-rich to enjoy, there was The Raj and Shogun World. In search of her daughter, sentient Host 'Maeve Millay' (played by Thandie Newton) ventures into this Edo period feudal Japanese-inspired world and discovers that the story narratives and characters are uncannily similar with her own Wild West habitat. There she meets her doppelgänger the geisha 'Akane' (Rinko Kikuchi) and one of her dancers, 'Sakura' (Kiki Sukezane), threatened by a powerful and deranged Shogun.
