As I've already mentioned, I grew up watching the likes of the Fourth through Seventh Doctors on TV, but managed to get my extra Doctor Who fix from catching re-runs of the Third Doctor's adventures, starring Jon Pertwee as the alien Time Lord, on BBC2.
Original Bessie car on display at the Doctor Who Experience
This incarnation of the Doctor spent much of his time exiled on Earth, reluctantly working as a scientific advisor for the militaristic UNIT (then called the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce), and this canary-yellow vintage roadster named 'Bessie' was his main means of transportation during that time.Photographed on display in the foyer of the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff Bay, Wales on May 20, 2013, this original car from the classic British sci-fi series first made her appearance in 1970's Doctor Who and the Silurians episode.
Whilst the car was predominately driven by Jon Pertwee's Doctor, the modified antique roadster was also used by the Fourth and Seventh Doctors.
You have to love that Who 1 license plate.
Stay tuned for more fabulously nostalgic Doctor Who delights in the days to come.
