Glenn Close's screen-worn Cruella de Vil costumes from 101 and 102 Dalmatians on display...

Emma Stone may be playing 'Cruella de Vil' in a forthcoming live-action origin story of the fur-loving Disney villain, but Glenn Close already flamboyantly brought the evil high-fashion designer to life in the 1996 version of 101 Dalmatians and 102 Dalmatians sequel four years later with the help of some fabulous outfits.

This nun-inspired costume from the live-action movie sequel and the zebra-print costume from 101 Dalmatians below were photographed on display at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California on August 23, 2019, as part of the Walt Disney Archives Presents Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume exhibit.

Anthony Powell was Costume Designer on both these Disney movies, and he was even Oscar-nominated for his 2000 movie designs.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the animated classic, the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit at Disney's D23 Expo had this special display featuring costumes and an actual set from the live-action films on August 19, 2011.

First up is this zebra print inspired outfit worn by Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians. The lady really does love her fur and there's nothing she'd like better than a Dalmatian fur coat.

One of the many highlights of the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibition at The Reagan Library on July 17, 2012, had to be this exquisite 'flame dress' worn by Glenn Close as the iconic Disney villain 'Cruella de Vil' in 102 Dalmatians.

Anthony Powell designed this magnificent garment for the 2000 live-action sequel and there's no denying its a show-stopping piece.

These are the kinds of costumes I love seeing up close, wonderfully detailed, intricate and flamboyant masterpieces. With the right hair and makeup this would make for a killer Halloween costume, although who am I kidding, even without a wig it would look fabulous.

Fantastical Fashions at Disney's D23 Expo 2017 - Part one...

This year at D23 Expo in Anaheim, California on July 14, 2017, the Walt Disney Archives exhibited a selection of six iconic gowns and costumes from Disney's live-action movies under the guise of Fantastical Fashions.

Here's a closer look at the spectacular costumes on display, some I've seen exhibited before but not out from under reflective cases, from 2014's Maleficent, 2010's Alice in Wonderland and 2000's 102 Dalmatians.

In the 2014 live-action version based on the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, 'Maleficent' is reimagined from the perspective of the Disney villain herself, and the vengeful fairy turns out to be not so villainous when you get to know her.

Anna B. Sheppard was the Oscar-nominated Costume Designer on the fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg, and if you like this horned and fur-trimmed cloaked outfit (which I'd not seen in person before), be sure to check out more original Maleficent film costumes and props on display.

In Tim Burton's 2010 live-action incarnation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, Helena Bonham Carter played the eccentric large-headed evil 'Red Queen'.

In the live-action sequel from 2000 directed by Kevin Lima, Glenn Close reprised her role as the sadistic, fur-loving Disney villain 'Cruella de Vil'.
