In the dark romantic comedy fantasy, Poor Things, Emma Stone plays a young Victorian woman brought back to life in a way similar to Frankenstein's Monster by an unorthodox scientist. Eager to learn and hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, his newly resurrected childlike 'Bella Baxter' runs off with a debauched lawyer on a journey of personal growth, liberation and sexual awakening.

Poor Things is based on a 1992 novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray and in director Yorgos Lanthimos new film, Mark Rufallo plays the slick and foppish lawyer, 'Duncan Wedderburn', that sweeps Bella away on their overseas travels of sexual and hedonistic pursuits.
Holly Waddington is Costume Designer on this Victorian era tale and although the costumes were not accompanied by signage, I'm hoping that my online sleuthing has credited the costumes to each actor accurately.

Willem Dafoe pays the Frankenstein-like 'Dr. Godwin Baxter' who experimented on a pregnant young woman who had jumped from a bridge seemingly to her death, resurrecting her by swapping her brain with her still living infant, creating 'Bella'.

Ramy Youssef plays 'Max McCandles', a medical student in Victorian London who becomes an assistant to the scientist surgeon and falls in love with Bella, even asking for her hand in marriage, before she runs off with the lawyer.

Later in the film we discover that the young woman who tried to commit suicide was named 'Victoria' and who felt stuck in a cruel and unhappy marriage to 'General Alfie Blessington'.
