In the movie biopic Till directed by Chinonye Chukwu, Danielle Deadwyler plays Mamie Till, the mother of 14-year-old boy, Emmett, who was brutally murdered and lynched by white supremacists in 1955 while visiting his cousins in Money, Mississipi. After his racist murder, Mamie Till becomes an educator and activist in the Civil Rights Movement and works to have her son's killers brought to justice. In the film the teenage Emmett Till is played by Jalyn Hall and Whoopi Goldberg plays his grandmother, Alma Carthan.
