In Netflix's historical drama Outlaw King, Chris Pine plays 'Robert the Bruce', the 14th century Scottish King who took on and defeated the superior occupying English army forces of 'Edward I'. The action takes place from around 1304 when the 'Outlaw King' decides to rebel, up to the 1307 Battle of Loudoun Hill. Robert Bruce is wedded to Irish nobility, 'Elizabeth de Burgh', his second wife, under orders from the King of England, whilst upon his death 'Edward, Prince of Wales' takes over his father's forces, is defeated by Robert Bruce, but is released and is crowned 'Edward II'.
