The Cybermen are one of Doctor Who's classic arch-enemies and since his TV revival have appeared on multiple occasions and have had many upgrades across the Time Lord's various incarnations. Traditionally metal as their name implies, in the 2013 Christmas Special 'The Time of the Doctor', which bid farewell to the Matt Smith's 'Eleventh Doctor', the sneaky cyborgs created a low-tech wooden Cyberman during the 'Siege of Trenzalore' in order to avoid detection.

This wooden creation shot flames with and used the phrase "incinerate" rather than "delete" when attacking, and was photographed on display at the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff Bay, Wales on April 30, 2015, alongside many other iterations of Cybermen, including a 'Cybershade' from the 2008 Christmas Special 'The Next Doctor'.

If you're a fan of the metal menaces, be sure to check out many more Cybermen from Doctor Who's revival era.

If you're fan of the original Cybermen then you'll love this refurbished screen-used original on loan from a private collection, designed by Richard Gregory, from 1982 and the Fifth Doctor's (Peter Davison) 'Earthshock' storyline, which featured the return of the Cybermen and the death of Doctor Companion, 'Adric'.

Now these were the deadly Cybermen I knew and loved. Sometimes I feel the new Cybermen have become a bit too 'Hollywood' and a bit more tin-foil and wobbly sets are what's in order, but that's probably just nostalgia talking. For more infamous monsters and villains from the Whoniverse, be sure to also check out all these different Daleks, Ice Warriors and Sontaran costumes and props on display.
Plus stay tuned in the days to come for even more fantastic discoveries from my latest visit to the constantly updated Doctor Who Experience exhibition.
