The Color Purple movie costumes on display...

Alice Walker's 1982 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Color Purple, received a second big screen adaptation based on the stage musical of the same name in 2023. This musical version stars Fantasia Barrino as 'Celie', a Southern black woman who faces many hardships in her life, including an abusive husband (played by Colman Domingo), but ultimately finds extraordinary strength and hope in the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood, including the fierce and defiant 'Sofia' (Danielle Brooks) and the independent jazz singer 'Shug Avery' (Taraji p. Henson).
