In Marvel Studios Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Tony Leung plays 'Xu Wenwu', the power-hungry, long-lived bearer of the Ten Rings and father of the film's titular character. The MCU's latest supervillain is more complex than some of the Marvel villains that have come before, around a thousand years ago he discovered the mysterious rings (although it's unclear whether they are mystical or alien in nature) and became a conquering warlord and leader of the clandestine Ten Rings organisation. In the film he explains his relationship to the fake 'Mandarin' and the offshoot terrorist group and characters featured in previous Iron Man films. He had his son trained in the martial arts to become an assassin to avenge his wife's murder and to share his mantle of power of the rings.

After all these months of the pandemic, it's so nice to be able to go to a cinema (even if it's masked), watch a great movie and to see screen-used costumes and props exhibited again.
