In director Zhang Yimou's Shadow (originally titled Ying), a military commander has a secret weapon, a "shadow", a look-alike who has been trained since he was young to fool both his enemies and his unpredictable king. Set during China's Three Kingdoms era (AD 220-280), only an injured 'Commander Ziyu', his double 'Jing Zhou' (both played by Chao Deng) and Ziyu's wife 'Xiao Ai' (Li Sun) know the truth. Now he must use this clandestine weapon to lead his people to victory in a war his king does not want.
