Set about a decade before Captain Kirk's five-year mission, Star Trek: Discovery follows the exploits and explorations of the crew of the USS Discovery, encountering new worlds, civilizations and even Mirror Universes. Sonequa Martin-Green stars as science specialist 'Michael Burnham', a human who has been raised by Vulcans. The new show also sports the first openly gay couple in Star Trek history and Wilson Cruz plays Medical Officer 'Dr. Hugh Culber' aboard the starship, plus Michelle Yeoh plays 'Captain Philippa Georgiou' and her Mirror Universe counterpart 'Emperor Georgiou' in the series.
