2015's Far From the Madding Crowd is the fourth time Thomas Hardy's 1874 literary classic romance has been adapted for the big and small screen, and this version is directed by Thomas Vinterberg. This feature film stars Carey Mulligan as the headstrong and independent 'Bathsheba Everdene', who attracts the attention of three very different men all competing for her hand in marriage.

This trio of costumes from the movie remake, which is set during Victorian Britain in rural England, were photographed on display at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum on February 12, 2016.

Janet Patterson was the Costume Designer responsible for creating these looks for Carey Mulligan to wear as 'Bathsheba Everdene', and if you like these outfits, you can also enjoy this other Far From the Madding Crowd film costume which was on display at the ArcLight Hollywood cinema last May.

Carey Mulligan is one of those fabulous actresses that can say so much just with her eyes, but obviously looking the part also helps.I believe the costume on the far right is from when Bathsheba sells her farm's seed in town (although her pink neck ruffle was tucked inside her jacket), the pinstripe outfit on the left was when she was being manhandled by her husband 'Frank' into her carriage in town and the darker dress at the back may have been when she sang to her farm workers.
If like me you're a fan of her work, make sure you also take a look at these original Suffragette movie costumes and these film costumes from An Education.
