Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children movie costumes on display...

What do you get when you mix Harry Potter with the X-Men, add a dash of the delectable Eva Green and a dollop of cinematic madness courtesy of iconic director Tim Burton, the big screen adaptation of Ransom Riggs 2011 book, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, that's what.

These two costumes from the movie, designed by Colleen Atwood, were photographed on display at ArcLight Sherman Oaks cinema on September 12, 2016.

A regular collaborator with Tim Burton, you can also check out more of the three time Oscar-winning Costume Designer's movie costumes from films like Alice in Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Nine, Into the Woods and Public Enemies here on this blog.

In the fantasy film Eva Green plays the extraordinary Headmistress and protector of a Home for Peculiar Children and she can transform herself into a peregrine falcon.

In Tim Burton's movie adaptation the characters and names of 'Olive' and 'Emma' have been switched, with Olive now a 'Peculiar Child' with pyrokinetic abilities, played by Lauren McCrostie. With the power to make fire with her hands, she must wear protective fireproof gloves.

Meanwhile 'Emma Bloom', played by Ella Purnell, is an aerokinetic teenager with the peculiarity of being lighter than air, and she must be weighted down with heavy metal boots, or tethered, to save herself from floating away.

I've not read any of the source material and even though the premise sounds quite derivative, I'm looking forward to this movie and I think Emma's costume, especially with the ornate weighted metal boots, would make for a fab Halloween costume this year, what do you think?
