In Mary Queen of Scots based on John Guy's biography Queen of Scots: The True Life of Mary Stuart, the young Queen of Scotland (played by Saoirse Ronan) returns to her home country to claim the throne and finds herself in conflict with her English cousin 'Queen Elizabeth I' (Margot Robbie), her own Scottish family and the male patriarchy of the 16th century.
