Danai Gurira's Okoye Midnight Angel costume from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on display...

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, after the death of their king the once-hidden African nation of Wakanda must face threats from the rest of the world's governments eager to procure Vibranium for their own uses and an underwater nation of fierce warriors led by the mutant king, 'Namor'. Danai Gurira's 'General Okoye' must lead the Dora Milaje to protect Wakanda's resources and royal family, plus take on a new role to battle the blue-skinned, water-breathing Talokan warriors. In the movie sequel Okoye dons the 'Midnight Angel' suit of armour designed by Wakandan genius 'Princess Shuri', which gives her enhanced speed, strength and flight capabilities to help battle this new threat from the ocean's depths.

This cool new costume from Wakanda Forever was photographed on display at Hollywood's iconic El Capitan Theatre on November 14, 2022.

In the Marvel comic books the Midnight Angels were a strike force subgroup of the Dora Milaje who first appeared in the Doomwar limited series, but their armour first appeared in Ta-Nehisi Coates 2016 Black Panther series, designed by artist Brian Stelfreeze.

In the film Michaela Coel's rebellious Dora Milaje warrior, 'Aneka', also dons a similar suit of armour and Ruth E. Carter was once again Costume Designer on director Ryan Coogler's sequel.

You can also see her Oscar-winning Black Panther costumes on display, plus more screen-worn Wakanda Forever costumes temporarily exhibited at the El Capitan Theatre.
