Magnum, P.I. is a cult-hit TV classic that starred Tom Selleck as a Hawaii Private Investigator in the series that ran from 1980 to 1988 on American TV networks (and has been repeated many times since).

Aside from his moustache and tight shorts, Tom Selleck's iconic character, 'Thomas Magnum', is well known for driving his red Ferrari 308 around the island.
The car was photographed on the Universal Studios Hollywood Backlot Tour on July 16, 2009.

  1. Thomas Magnum did not own the Ferraris he drove. He lived in the guest home at the invitation of Robin Masters. Masters owned all the cars that Magnum has access to, including the Ferraris. Hence the vanity plates on the different Ferraris on the show:

    Season 1: Ferrari 308GTS
    Seasons 2-3: Ferrari 308GTSi
    Seasons 4-6: Ferrari 308GTSQv

  2. I read somewhere that Kit Cars were also used for the stunt driving, And I do think that every middle age guy would love to pull upto the Anderson Estate (Robin Masters Estate) in a bright red Ferrari 308.

  3. I read that Ferrari Italy gave Tom a real Ferrari 308 as a "thank-you" for making their car so popular, and that the producers of the show were a tad upset they didnt have one,Was the car given to Tom had the seat modified too!!
