The biographical musical drama film Respect follows the rise of Aretha Franklin's career and the first two decades of her life from the 1950s to the 1970s, from a child singing in her father's church choir to her international superstardom as the "Queen of Soul", with Jennifer Hudson starring as the music icon from Detroit.
