This past weekend I've really been thinking a lot about real life heroes and villains, and as often when the real world gets too dark I like to retreat into the comfort of some escapist movies to rally my spirits. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is always on my rewatch list, so I thought I'd choose some of my favourite MCU costumes I've seen in person at exhibitions and cinemas to share with you all.

Taskmaster and Bob Reynolds movie costumes from Thunderbolts on display...
In Thunderbolts* when shady CIA director 'Valentina Allegra de Fontaine' is being impeached and investigated by Congress, she decides to clean house and eliminate all evidence of her off-book superhuman experiments and the clandestine operatives that she has working for her by sending them all to a death trap in the desert. Each covert agent, like 'Antonia Dreykov' aka 'Taskmaster' (played by Olga Kurylenko), is given a target to kill (hers is the U.S. Agent), but ultimately not even her mimicry powers can save her and she is shot in the head by 'Ghost'. In addition to all the deadly black ops killers, the O.X.E. vault also contains a man in hospital scrubs named 'Bob' who has lost his memory, but ultimately it is revealed that he is the product of the 'Sentry' superhuman experiments that the rogue CIA director has been conducting.

Wyatt Russell's U.S. Agent movie costume from Thunderbolts on display...
In the new Marvel Studios film Thunderbolts*, Wyatt Russell reprises his role as 'John Walker' aka the 'U.S. Agent'. In the movie he is tricked by his employer, the shady CIA director 'Valentina Allegra de Fontaine', into a death trap designed to eliminate her covert special operatives when she is being investigated and impeached by Congress. Joining with this misfit band of assassins and killers and jokingly taking on the moniker of the Thunderbolts*, they try and take down their old boss and her superhuman 'Sentry' project that has run awry and threatens the world.

Ghost costume worn by Hannah John-Kamen in Thunderbolts on display...
In Thunderbolts* Hannah John-Kamen reprises her role as 'Ava Starr' aka 'Ghost', the stealthy covert operative who can molecularly phase through objects who made her big screen debut in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp. In the new MCU film we learn that Ghost now has more control of her phasing condition and has been conducting black ops missions for shady CIA director 'Valentina Allegra de Fontaine'. When de Fontaine is being investigated by Congress she decides to hide the evidence of her superhuman experiments and eliminate all the special operatives that she's been using by setting a trap at a covert O.X.E. facility. Ruthlessly killing her own target 'Taskmaster', Ava must team up with 'Yelena Belova', U.S. Agent' and the mysterious 'Bob' to escape death at the site and join with 'Red Guardian' and the 'Winter Soldier' to take on the rogue director and battle the superhuman 'Sentry' experiment she has unleashed on New York City.
