One of the fresh ideas presented in Star Wars: The Force Awakens was some of the inner workings of the Empire, or First Order as they're now known. Not only did we see updated and different designs for Stormtroopers, but we also found out what they wore under their armour, at least FN-2187, or the hero renamed by 'Poe Dameron' after his rescue as 'Finn'.
Original Star Wars: The Force Awakens film costumes and props
The original costumes from the film were designed by Michael Kaplan and were photographed on display at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on January 4, 2016, where they'll be through February 7, 2016, for you to see when you buy a ticket to watch the movie.
If you like these costume designs, be sure to also check out Captain Phasma's chrome caped Stormtrooper costume, new outfits for Han Solo and Princess Leia and a closer look at Daisy Ridley's Rey costume from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Once again, I'm sure most people have seen the movie already, but if not SPOILER ALERT from here on.

As we now know, 'Finn' was stolen from his parents as a child, raised and trained to be a Stormtrooper (rather than the First Order using a Clone Army). He rebelled after seeing a village on Jakku slaughtered by his compatriots and helped 'Poe Dameron' escape so he could pilot a Tie Fighter and flee from the First Order.

Shot out of the sky and crashing on the desert planet of Jakku, he grabs Poe Dameron's jacket from the downed Tie Fighter (thinking he's dead) before it sinks in the sands and explodes. As he tries to find civilization he sheds pieces of his Stormtrooper armour (the version on the right below) as he wades through the sandy landscape, revealing a black cotton, nylon and polyester shirt and black cotton trousers underneath (no wonder he was hot).
Interestingly in the film the red shoulder and breast accents on the classic Star Wars looking nubuck leather jacket look stronger in some scenes than others (maybe down to filters?) and it certainly doesn't look as red in person.
It was cool to see these Stormtrooper costumes up close (there must have been hundreds made for the movie), but it's a shame that the flamethrower trooper's weapon was missing.
I've seen the movie three times now and could easily watch again, just like with the original trilogy, so it really has reawakened my interest in Star Wars again.

Apparently the inspiration for the new-look Stormtroopers came from simplifying their iconic design and thinking about what would Apple do to make the soldiers armour sleeker and updated. It was cool to see these Stormtrooper costumes up close (there must have been hundreds made for the movie), but it's a shame that the flamethrower trooper's weapon was missing.
