Batman Begins costume worn by Christian Bale on display...

With only a week to go before The Dark Knight Rises opens and completes Christopher Nolan's impressive Batman trilogy, I thought it would be cool to revisit Christian Bale's Bat-suit from 2005's Batman Begins, the one that kick-started it all.

Costume Designer on all three movies, Lindy Hemming's armoured Bat-suit from the first installment looks so awesome when you see it up close in person.

This original Bat-suit on loan from Warner Bros. Studios was photographed on display at the London Film Museum on May 15, 2012, and this time as it was in a different display case I was able to take some more detailed photos for us all to enjoy.

In addition to the costume, the superhero exhibit also had these City of Gotham police file props on display.

Original Batman Begins movie costumes and props on display...

Just as Tim Burton's Batman redefined superhero movies in 1989, so too did Christopher Nolan's revival of the Bat franchise with Batman Begins in 2005, with Christian Bale as the gruff Dark Knight and his billionaire alter-ego 'Bruce Wayne'.

These fantastic costumes and props from the movie were photographed on display at the 75th Anniversary Batman exhibit at Warner Bros. Studios VIP Tour Museum on July 29, 2014 and in addition to the Bat-suit from the film, the exhibit also featured a wonderful collection of League of Shadows costumes that I'd never seen on display before.

Whereas Joel Schumacher's Batman movies embraced gaudy colours and a light-hearted approach to storytelling, Christopher Nolan's Gotham City and its Caped Crusader was much darker and grittier in tone, which is also reflected in the costume design by Lindy Hemming.

The exhibit also had the wardrobe worn by Morgan Freeman as 'Lucius Fox', an employee at Wayne Enterprises who works in the Applied Science Division and helps equip Batman with his Batmobile and high-tech gadgets, like this Grapple Gun.

Costume worn by Cillian Murphy as
Scarecrow in Batman Begins

Batman Begins was a breath of fresh air as it didn't recycle previously seen Bat-villains like 'The Riddler', 'The Penguin', 'Poison Ivy' or 'Mr. Freeze' and kept the threats of 'The Joker', 'Two-Face', 'Bane' and 'Catwoman' for later installments in The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Cillian Murphy starred as Arkham Asylum's 'Dr. Jonathan Crane' and his psychotic alter-ego, 'Scarecrow', wearing this tatty burlap mask and ripped straightjacket ensemble looking like it was straight out of a horror movie.

Meanwhile Katie Holmes starred as 'Rachel Dawes', Bruce Wayne's childhood friend and Gotham City's assistant district attorney.

In this Batman origin story, when traveling the world Liam Neeson's 'Henri Ducard' finds an imprisoned and disillusioned 'Bruce Wayne' and offers to train him in the art of stealth and fear as part of the League of Shadows, run by 'Ra's al Ghul' in China.

Ken Watanabe wears this impressive and rather regal Ra's al Ghul costume and sits atop this throne (with Production Design by Nathan Crowley), but he is in fact a decoy and Henri Ducard is the real Ra's and leader of the League.

When Bruce discovers the League's true intentions to destroy Gotham City, who they view as being too corrupted by crime to save, he turns on his mentor and becomes the protector of home city.

After seeing many similar Bat-suits from all seven Batman movies, it was a refreshing change to see this selection of League of Shadows costumes up close, like the one worn by Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, and enjoy the detailed costume design.

In addition to all the cool costumes the exhibit also had a great array of props on display, like Bat-shaped throwing darts, Gotham City car license plates, swords and even Bruce Wayne's wallet and credit cards, which were a favourite of mine.

If you like these original costumes and props, stay tuned in the days to come for even more authentic pieces from The Dark Knight Trilogy.

The Joker and more movie costumes and props from The Dark Knight on display...

2008 was a great year for comic book movies, not only did it introduce us to Iron Man and the start of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, but it also brought us the second installment in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, with Heath Ledger in his outstanding Oscar-winning performance as 'The Joker'.

This amazing collection of original costumes and screen-used props were photographed on display at the 75th Anniversary Batman exhibit at the Warner Bros. Studios VIP Tour Museum in Burbank, California on July 29, 2014.

Christian Bale's Bat-suit and Heath Ledger's Joker costume from The Dark Knight were two of the first movie costumes I ever saw on display when I first moved to L.A., but it was even cooler seeing them up close and out of their display cases, plus alongside all the other costumes and film props.

Lindy Hemming was responsible for updating The Joker's distinctive purple and green wardrobe for the gritty world of Gotham City, and if you like this outfit worn by the Caped Crusader's arch-foe, be sure to compare it to Jack Nicholson's Joker costume from 1989's Batman, which was far more flamboyant.

Another costume worn by Heath Ledger was the creepy nurse's outfit he donned when he visited 'Harvey Dent' aka 'Two-Face' in the hospital after the accident that scarred him, obviously The Joker looked even more sinister in his makeup and wig.

Speaking of coin-flipping Batman villain, compared to Tommy Lee Jones cartoonish Two-Face movie costume from 1995's Batman Forever, Aaron Eckart sported a look which was much grimmer and closer to reality to play the damaged district attorney 'White Knight'.

Meanwhile Christian Bale's Bat-suit also got a makeover between Batman Begins and its sequel, The Dark Knight, and the DC Comics crime-fighter's costume looked much more like angular and armoured pieces than the more molded rubber look he'd previously sported.

Be sure to compare this Bat-suit with Christian Bale's Batman Begins movie costume to see the differences.

In addition to all these fantastic costumes worn by the lead actors in the movie, the exhibit which featured items from all seven Batman movies to date, also had a cool selection of props that had been featured in the film.

Included in the display were some of the scary clown masks used by The Joker's henchmen, Batman's pump-action sticky bomb gun, The Joker's signature playing card calling card, Two-Face's coin props and even the letter written by 'Rachel Dawes', Bruce Wayne's childhood friend and former flame (in this movie played by Maggie Gyllenhaal), before her death.

If you're a fan of the Gotham City's protector, be sure to check out all the other original costumes and props from his Warner Bros. Studios movies to date and stay tuned for more great items from The Dark Knight Rises.
