In director Kasi Lemmons film, Cynthia Erivo plays the iconic abolitionist and Underground Railroad 'conductor', 'Harriet Tubman'. Inspired by true events, the movie follows her daring escape from slavery to America's North in 1849 and her courageous return to the South to help guide hundreds of other enslaved black people to freedom.
