Captain Monica Rambeau costume worn by Teyonah Parris
in The Marvels
These screen-worn costumes from The Marvels were photographed on display at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre on November 14, 2023.
Lindsay Pugh is Costume Designer on director Nia DaCosta's MCU debut, and responsible for creating Monica's 'Photon' super-suit (a name she never adopts in the movie, but which was her mother's U.S. Air Force pilot callsign and is used on merchandise for the film).
Monica receives her black and white costume (which is similar the S.A.B.E.R. station uniforms) courtesy of 'Prince Yan' of the water planet Aladna and initially it comes with sleeves which is an ode to her original comic book look.
I love the DNA Double Helix on the sleeve detail and I'm slightly obsessed with the stitching and design of her black knee-high boots. She looks great in action in the movie.
Fans of the latest Marvel Studios cinematic entry can also enjoy these other movie costumes from The Marvels on display, and these Captain Marvel movie costumes from 2019.
Black girl magic indeed.

I just wanted to say that I have been aware of/following this blog for years now (I come back on occasion) and I'm glad (and highly amazed) you keep it running to this day. And for so many years!
ReplyDeleteI have quite a few memorable favorites, such as Evelyn's 'The Mummy' Costume or the display of 90's items from 'Boyhood.'
This site so excellent and I just want to encourage you to keep it going and wish it much success!
God bless you. Jesus saves and loves us all. Have a wonderful day! Keep going!
P.S. I don't know if you ever plan on migrating this to another (or more popular) web-hosting site, (I know blogger is among the least of blogging sites these days) but if you decide to, or even make a domain name there, please make a post about it so it can be bookmarked. ;)
Thanks for the kind words.
DeleteThis Blog has been a passion project for many years, I almost stopped during the pandemic, but many more marvelous costumes drew me back.
Hopefully I can keep going for as long as possible.
