The movie
Women Talking adapts
Miriam Toews 2018 novel of the same name inspired by the real-life events that occurred at the isolated religious
Manitoba Colony in
Bolivia in 2010. The hard-hitting drama sees the women of the
Mennonite community in an unnamed
U.S. location grapple with their faith after it is revealed the men there have drugged and raped the women and girls at night for years. The film stars
Frances McDormand, Claire Foy, Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod, Liv McNeil, Kate Hallett and
August Winter.

Quita Alfred is
Costume Designer on the drama based on true events and this film's wardrobe was exhibited at the same time as the
Till movie costumes.
I loved seeing this pop-up exhibition before
Christmas and look forward to the next annual
Art of Costume Design in Film exhibition at the
FIDM Museum in the spring (if it happens).
