In Wakanda Forever Namor's origins deviate from his comic book Atlantean heritage and we learn he is hundreds of years old and that when European colonizers came to the Yucatán peninsula they brought disease that spread to the indigenous people.

His tribe's shaman discovered a plant grown in Vibranium that cured them, but also transformed them into water-breathers, able to survive in the ocean's cold and crushing depths.

When Namor's pregnant mother consumed the plant, she made her son in the womb a mutant, retaining his natural skin colour with pointy ears, winged feet and amphibian-like breathing.

In the MCU his name is a portmanteau of the Spanish phrase "sín amor", or "without love" - a name to strike fear in his enemies.

He comes into conflict with Wakanda when 'King T'Challa' announced the existence of Vibranium to the world, causing governments to try and find their own sources for their own uses, leading to scientists discovering that rare alien metal also exists in the world's oceans near Talokan.

Namor's costumes with its Mayan influences was photographed on display at the infamous El Capitan Theatre along Hollywood Boulevard on November 14, 2022.

Oscar-winner Ruth E. Carter is Costume Designer on this movie sequel directed by Ryan Coogler and you can see more Black Panther: Wakanda Forever costumes temporarily on display at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre.
