Martin Scorsese's latest
Oscar-nominated film is based on the 2004 book by
Charles Brandt,
I Heard You Paint Houses: Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran and Closing the Case on Jimmy Hoffa. The movie follows
Robert De Niro's 'Frank Sheeran', a truck driver who becomes a hitman for
Joe Pesci's mobster
'Russell Bufalino' and his
Northeastern Pennsylvania crime family. He soon meets union leader
'Jimmy Hoffa' (Al Pacino) and another rising
Teamster 'Anthony "Tony Pro" Provenzano', but over time relationships sour among the crime families and
Sheeran soon has to put his skills at
"painting houses" to use. The
Best Picture nominee has garnered ten
Oscar nominations, and is also nominated for
Best Costume Design by
Sandy Powell and
Christopher Peterson.
