Fantastical Fashions on display at the Disney D23 Expo 2017
Here's a closer look at the spectacular costumes on display, some I've seen exhibited before but not out from under reflective cases, from 2014's Maleficent, 2010's Alice in Wonderland and 2000's 102 Dalmatians.
Maleficent costume worn by Angelina Jolie
In the 2014 live-action version based on the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, 'Maleficent' is reimagined from the perspective of the Disney villain herself, and the vengeful fairy turns out to be not so villainous when you get to know her.
Anna B. Sheppard was the Oscar-nominated Costume Designer on the fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg, and if you like this horned and fur-trimmed cloaked outfit (which I'd not seen in person before), be sure to check out more original Maleficent film costumes and props on display.
Red Queen costume worn by Helena Bonham Carter
in Alice in Wonderland
In Tim Burton's 2010 live-action incarnation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, Helena Bonham Carter played the eccentric large-headed evil 'Red Queen'.Colleen Atwood was the Oscar-winning Costume Designer on the film and if you like this regal gown, you can also check out more Alice in Wonderland film costumes, plus more Red Queen movie costumes from Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Cruella de Vil costume worn by Glenn Close
in 102 Dalmatians
In the live-action sequel from 2000 directed by Kevin Lima, Glenn Close reprised her role as the sadistic, fur-loving Disney villain 'Cruella de Vil'.
If you love this stunning Oscar-nominated 'Flame Dress' designed by Anthony Powell (which I've seen before but never out of display case so you could see the flowing effect of the gown and the detailed back), make sure you also take a look at these other elaborate Cruella de Vil movie costumes from 101 and 102 Dalmatians on display.
Obviously credit must also go to all the costume makers and the wardrobe department who help bring all these fantastical creations to life.
Come back soon for a closer look at Cinderella's fairytale blue ballgown, Belle's yellow gown from Beauty and the Beast and Giselle's wedding dress from Enchanted.
