In the movie based on the fantasy novel by Patrick Ness, A Monster Calls, a young boy befriends a gigantic tree-like monster to help cope with his mum's terminally ill condition. In the movie I'm sure the creature is brought to life by the wonders of CGI, but I assume these scale models with their detailed intertwined vines and twigs were used to creature the look of the Groot-like monster. Regardless it was still cool to get a glimpse behind-the-scenes at the magic that brought this movie to the big screen.
