Harry Potter and Ron Weasley Quidditch movie costumes on display...

On my visit to Warner Bros. Studios VIP Studio Tour Museum on July 29, 2014 I got to see a lot of original costumes and props from all eight Harry Potter movies, including this fantastic selection of Quidditch goodies.

In J. K. Rowling's magical universe, Quidditch is the wizarding world's favourite sport played on broomsticks and featured prominently in her seven best-selling novels and the film franchise.

Included in the display was the Gryffindor Quidditch robes worn by Daniel Radcliffe as a 'Seeker' in 2004's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and his 'Nimbus 2000' broomstick from 2001's inaugural movie. In addition, the exhibit also had Ron Weasley's 'Keeper' costume worn by Rupert Grint from 2009's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. 

The authentic costumes were surrounded by other Quidditch paraphernalia, including banners for Hogwarts Houses, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor, supporters whistles, drums and noisemakers and even a bludger bat used in the aerial game.

Also on display upstairs in the museum were these fun Omnioculars used by Ron Weasley to watch 'Viktor Krum' in the Quidditch World Cup Tournament in the fourth Harry Potter movie installment, The Goblet of Fire.

as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Speaking of magical sports, here's also the costume worn by Robert Pattinson as Gryffindor's 'Cedric Diggory' in the Triwizard Tournament from 2005's Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in which he was killed, plus an open Golden Egg prop which is a clue that the contestants had to solve to proceed to the next task.

Christian Bale's Moses film costume from Exodus: Gods and Kings on display...

2014 has been quite a year for Biblical epics. First came Noah and the apocalyptic flood earlier this Spring and now it's time for 'Moses' to part the Red Sea to lead his people to freedom in Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Christian Bale plays the legendary Moses in this adaptation of the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt from the Old Testament, and by the looks of this armoured Moses costume we're going to see lots of chariots and swordplay before he helps lead the slaves to their freedom.

These original costumes worn by the lead actors in the movie were photographed on display at ArcLight Hollywood cinema on November 18, 2014.

Janty Yates was the talented Costume Designer on this movie and if you like Christian Bale's Egyptian General battle costume, be sure to also take a closer look at Joel Edgerton's Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II costume, which is truly spectacular.

This is not the designer's first collaboration with Ridley Scott, so be sure to check out these impressive film costumes from 2010's Robin Hood and more swords-and-sandals movie costumes from 2000's Gladiator, for which she earned an Academy Award.

Moses spends most of the movie in battle garb, first as a general in the Pharaoh's army and then as leader of the rebellion. He wears lamellar armour with its petal-shaped metal, befitting a high ranking general in the Egyptian army general, including an elaborate cuirass breastplate design.

I can't tell whether that's an eagle or a vulture bird emblem on Moses helmet, as both have special significance in Egyptian mythology, whatever it is, it still looks pretty cool.

I'm not sure I'm the right audience for Biblical epics, although I remember watching Charlton Heston play a very bearded Moses as a child in 1956's The Ten Commandments, but these costumes look so amazing up close, I'm almost tempted to go and see this movie to see them in action.

Exodus: Gods and Kings Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II costume on display...

I've seen my fair share of movie costumes on display these past few years living in L.A., but these authentic film costumes from Ridley Scott's new Biblical epic, Exodus: Gods and Kings, certainly outshine the majority of them, mainly due to the regal golden ensemble worn by Joel Edgerton as the Egyptian Pharaoh 'Ramesses the Great'.

These impressive movie costumes were designed by the Oscar-winning Janty Yates, who coincidentally won her Academy Award for another of Ridley Scott's films, so be sure to check out more of her costumes in Gladiator from 2000.

This Exodus: Gods and Kings movie wardrobe exhibit was photographed within the ArcLight Hollywood cinema foyer on November 18, 2014, and up close you can really see the quality of the costumes.

I've seen many costumes in person which ultimately look far superior on the big screen, but these detailed pieces look the part on closer inspection and are truly spectacular. The daytime and evening photos also show you how differently they look under varying lighting conditions.

Exodus: Gods and Kings is a Hollywood interpretation of the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt by 'Moses' as told in the Old Testament Book of Exodus.

The film adaptation tells the tale of the defiant leader Moses (played by Christian Bale), who rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh 'Ramses' (his name can be spelt several ways) and leads 600,000 slaves on an epic escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues, and who miraculously parts the Red Sea to achieve their freedom.

I make no apologies for the sheer quantity of images here (believe me there are many more), but it's been a while since I've been so dazzled by a costume design. Hopefully there's more than enough detail shots for anyone wishing to recreate this costume for cosplay, or future Halloween purposes.

I'm no expert on ancient Egyptian mythology, but this crown and headdress worn by Joel Edgerton as Ramesses II seems to pay homage to the goddess 'Nekhbet', with the spread wings of the vulture and the rearing Egyptian cobra design.
