Costume worn by Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins
in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
In The Hobbit Trilogy Frodo's uncle, 'Bilbo Baggins', is played by Martin Freeman and in this second installment sees much more action, fighting giant spiders, escaping elves and orcs, and of course, taking on a huge fire-breathing dragon. He wears this particular outfit towards the beginning of the movie.
Costume worn by Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield
In the movies Richard Armitage plays the dwarven king-in-exile 'Thorin Oakenshield', who leads a company of twelve dwarves, along with Bilbo, to retrieve the Arkenstone gem from the dragon Smaug's treasure trove within the Lonely Mountain in order to unite his people.
Wizard costume worn by Ian McKellen as Gandalf the Grey
in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Ian McKellan reprises his role as the wise wizard 'Gandalf the Grey' and it was so cool to see his iconic costume up close and in person. I was actually surprised at how much of a metallic shimmer his robes had.If you like these fantasy costumes, you'll probably enjoy the Asgardian costumes from Thor: The Dark World on display too.

The TCL Chinese has or had three other costumes, including Tauriel, Legolas and Kili.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info - I've been out of town for a few weeks, so I'm scrabbling to get up to speed on all the exhibits. I know they also had all of them on display at The Grove for a special Hobbit 2 event before the film was released too.
ReplyDeleteYes, this set of Bilbo, Gandalf and Thorin were at the Grove for the Live Event on Nov. 4, so when the Tauriel/Legolas/Kili set turned up at the Chinese, I had to wonder where this set ended up. I find it odd that both the Chinese and the Arclight got exhibits, those two theaters don't usually play nice with each other, so it must be WB stepping in and telling them this is what they were going to do.
