Latest costumes and props on display at Universal Studios Hollywood...

Aside from the temporary costume exhibits at the ArcLight cinemas and the Cinerama Dome, the other place in L.A. to see a selection of original costume and props on display for a slightly longer time period is at Universal Studios Hollywood.

You can also find models, mask, conceptual drawings and even cars used in Universal Pictures movies at the theme park.

More original Frost/Nixon film costumes on display...

These wonderful original costumes are from Ron Howard's 2008 movie retelling the famous post-Watergate television interviews in 1977 between former President Richard Nixon and charismatic British talk show host, David Frost.

The movie was nominated for five Oscars at the 81st Annual Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Editing, Best Writing: Screenplay based on material previously produced or published for Peter Morgan (who had adapted the story from his critically acclaimed stage version) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Frank Langella, who reprised his award-winning theatre role as disgraced former 'President Richard Nixon'.

Daniel Orlandi was responsible for these late-70's inspired outfits in the movie adaptation and he has recently handled costume design on The Blind Side and Angels & Demons movies.

The costume exhibit features a characteristic look for Patricia McCormack as former First Lady 'Pat Nixon' and retirement clothes worn by Frank Langella as President Nixon.
The photograph above also features a gold dress worn by Renee Zellweger in the Bridget Jones movie sequel (on the far right).

Milk movie costumes worn by Sean Penn, James Franco and Emile Hirsch...

These fabulous original 1970's era costumes were worn by Sean Penn, James Franco and Emile Hirsch in Gus Van Sant's extraordinary 2008 biopic of the life and assassination of gay activist and San Francisco Supervisor 'Harvey Milk'.

Milk received eight nominations at the 81st Annual Academy Awards in 2009, including one for Danny Glicker for Best Achievement in Costume Design (whose work can also be seen in Up in the Air, Thank You For Smoking and Transamerica). 

Unfortunately he didn't win, but Dustin Lance Black won the Oscar for Best Writing: Screenplay written directly for the Screen and Sean Penn was awarded the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for his amazing portrayal of 'Harvey Milk'.

The costume above is worn by Sean Penn during the Gay Freedom Pride Parade in San Francisco, where Harvey Milk took to the stage, to spread his message of equality and hope, even after receiving numerous death threats.

His t-shirt proudly affirms that "I'll never go back (in the closet)".

Beneath the costume is an array of campaign support literature props for Harvey Milk to become the first openly gay candidate for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.

These are the red jacket and denim jeans worn by James Franco as 'Scott Smith', Harvey's ex-lover, at his memorial service.

To the left of the costume you can also see a 'soap box' and 'We are very open' sign prop used in the movie.

Also part of the costume exhibit were the clothes worn by Emile Hirsch as young gay activist 'Cleve Jones'. This particular outfit was used in a discussion scene with Harvey.

Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine van...

Even though this version of The Mystery Machine may not have actually featured in any live-action Scooby-Doo movies, it still looks fantastic on display at Universal Studios Hollywood and I couldn't resist featuring here on Hollywood Movie Costumes and Props.

A different version of the van featured in the live-action movie about Scooby and his teenage mystery-solving pals, but this version seems to be a replica of the original Hanna-Barbera cartoon incarnation of The Mystery Machine.

This fun looking vehicle was photographed on February 11, 2010 and is usually accompanied by 'Scooby-Doo' and his best pal 'Shaggy' as they entertain the crowds at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Prosthetic mask and creature maquette from Hellboy II: The Golden Army..

Ron Perlman was the man behind the titular red demon mask in both 2004's Hellboy and the 2008 sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army.
These are photographs of the actual facial prothetic that he (and various stunt men) wore to become 'Hellboy' in the second movie, along with a fantastic maquette of an elemental forest god featured in the movie.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army received a nomination for Best Makeup (Mike Elizalde and Tom Floutz) at the prestigious 81st Academy Awards in 2009, but rather sadly lost the Oscar to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Renee Zellweger's gold Bridget Jones dinner gown...

In 2001 Renee Zellweger hilariously starred as the neurotic titular British character from Helen Fielding's bestselling novel, Bridget Jones's Diary. In 2004 she returned for its sequel, The Edge of Reason, alongside co-stars Colin Firth and Hugh Grant.
On display at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 11, 2010 was this gold dress from the sequel.

'Bridget' wears this bright dress to accompany 'Mark Darcy' (Colin Firth) to the Law Council Dinner and can be seen unglamourously staggering from the taxi and up a flight of stairs as she arrives in the tight-fitting gown.

Morgan Freeman's costume accessories from Wanted...

The 2008 comic book adaptation, Wanted, about a guild of professional assassins, starred Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman.
These items of costume jewelry were worn by various members of the organisation of assassins in the action movie and all are designed with a 'Bee' motif, the symbol of the 'Fraternity'. They were photographed on display at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 11, 2010.

In addition to the camera slate and clapperboard used in the movie, also on display was the bee ring worn by Common as 'The Gunsmith', the bee pendant worn by Dato Bakhtadze as 'The Butcher' and other jewelry used to complete Morgan Freeman's transformation into 'Sloan', the leader of the 'Fraternity'.

Starbuck's Viper flight suit from Battlestar Galactica: Razor TV movie...

The critically acclaimed reimagined Battlestar Galactica sci-fi TV series ran from 2003 to 2009 for four seasons and seventy-five episodes. The show also spawned a special stand-alone 2007 TV movie called 'Razor' which chronicled the events aboard a second Battlestar, the 'Pegasus'.

On display at Universal Studios Hollywood on February 11, 2010 were the actual Viper flight suit and helmet worn by Katee Sackhoff as Lt. Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace in the special Battlestar Galactica: Razor TV film.

Of all the costume and prop exhibits on display this Battlestar Galactica flight suit excited the inner 'fan-boy' in me as I loved the engrossing sci-fi series. The outfit and helmet looked amazing up close.
