On the eve of the U.S. Presidential Inauguration it seems timely to share these costumes from Hulu's 11.22.63 TV mini-series revolving around the assassination of JFK. The eight-episode science fiction thriller is based on the 2011 Stephen King novel 11/22/63 and stars James Franco as 'Jake Epping', a Maine English teacher who has the chance to travel back in time to 1963 and try and prevent the murder of the Robert F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States.

Roland Sanchez was Costume Designer on this original Hulu series set in 1960s America, whilst Rachel Archer was Assistant Costume Designer and Leslie Sungail was Costume Supervisor on the show. This costume display was photographed on August 9, 2016 as part of Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum's 10th annual Art of TV Costume Design exhibition.

In the coming-of-age drama 20th Century Women, Annette Bening is a mother who enlists the help of two young women to help her son through his teenage years in Santa Barbara, California in the late 1970s.

'Abbie' is a sophisticated, punkish photographer and one of the artistic misfits living at Dorothea's sprawling, crumbling house, who feels stifled by living in Santa Barbara after having lived in New York City.

Annette Bening plays the eccentric Birkenstock-wearing single mother of 15-year-old 'Jamie' (played by Lucas Jade Zumann) who works in technical draftsmanship, who is anxious about her son's future.

Jamie is besotted with his provocative friend 'Julie', two years older than him and inclined to climb through his window and sleep in the same bed with him at night, whilst also going to teenage therapy sessions.

Hidden Figures movie costumes on display...

You can tell it's award season in L.A. when a constant flow of movie costume exhibits continue to grace local cinemas to garner support and enthusiasm for award winners and potential nominees, like with this fab costume exhibit for Hidden Figures. The biopic is based on the book by Margot Lee Shetterly and tells the true story of the black women working at NASA providing essential mathematical data that helped with astronaut John Glenn's Project Mercury space mission in 1962.

In the movie Taraji P. Henson plays 'Katherine Johnson', a mathematical genius and widowed mother of three who works in the segregated West Area Computers division with her female colleagues at Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.

As a human 'computer', she becomes the first African-American woman on the NASA team trying to work out the mathematical equations and trajectories to help the Americans beat the Russians into space, whilst battling against prejudice and sexism from her co-workers.

Octavia Spencer plays 'Dorothy Vaughan', an informal supervisor of the Computers division, who feels she should be promoted, paid equally for her work and not discriminated against for the colour of her skin. She also realises that with the installation of a massive IBM computer that technology will soon change the way her team of female 'computers' work, making them obsolete if they don't learn new skills, like FORTRAN how to use the IBM machine.

Janelle Monáe stars as aspiring engineer 'Mary Jackson', who challenges state laws and fights the system of all-white education to attend night classes to get her engineering degree.
